The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA (H247 Facelift) is the entry ticket to the Mercedes SUV club. Originally launched in 2013 as a jacked-up hatchback, this 2nd Generation (introduced in 2020) morphed into a proper SUV. The 2024 Facelift adds body-colored wheel arches (replacing the plastic cladding on some trims) and standard LED lights, giving it a more mature, premium look that mimics the larger GLC.

The 2024 update electrifies the petrol engines:
- GLA 200 (1.3L Turbo): 163 HP. STANDARD Now features a 48V mild-hybrid system. The electric motor adds 10kW boost for smoother overtaking. It is punchy enough for city use but strains at 140km/h.

- Service: It is a Mercedes. Routine service A/B is costly. The 7-speed DCT gearbox needs specific fluid changes. Do not ignore the "Service B" warnings.
- Parts: Shares mechanicals with the A-Class and B-Class, so filters and pads are available. Body parts (bumpers, lights) are expensive.
Suitability for Kenyan Roads
City Crossover: With 183mm of ground clearance, it handles Nairobi's speed bumps better than the CLA or A-Class. However, it is not an off-roader. The 4MATIC system is designed for slippery tarmac, not deep mud. The suspension is tuned for comfort.
